These are the OG hoops, my go-to style, my first loves. Now in new woods and patterns! Fear not: they're really not too big. Everyone who's tried them on has looked fantastic. Now you can too!

My neighbor's apple is stained with local black walnut stain I made myself by fermenting a bunch of fallen husks in a bucket in my bathtub for a few weeks. Didn't smell too bad. But I was excited to see how the stain brought out the spalting and knots in these character-filled hoops! Tung oil and gold-filled hardware give shine to the rustic vibes.

The lighter wood tone is maple stained with the same local walnut. These are a medium, warm brown that have lots of depth. Tung oil and shellac give it a delightful feel. Sterling silver hardware.

The olive beauties soaked up so much tung oil I lost count of how many coats. But the result is incredible. This is Luminous Wormwood stock, and the character of the holes complements the incredible depth of the grain variations and shimmer. Marigold and indigo dyes, sterling silver hardware.

The red spectacles are an incredible layering of indigo over the red. Bubbles made for a textured deepening of the red. Tung oil and shellac give these almost floral-looking burgundy hoops a gorgeous sheen. Sterling silver completes the look.

Tender Fire Studio is part concept, part my tiny basement apartment full of art supplies and very little furniture, and part shared workshop. I work, play, and love on land that was stolen from the Pocumtuc people, settled by colonizers, and continues to be sold for profit in the speculative real estate market for the enrichment and comfort of the owning class. Decolonizing my practice is an ongoing study of how I can be in right relationship to the land, animals, and plants of this place while embracing and acknowledging the often-scary precarity and vulnerability of a life given to the pursuit of soul and the sacred rather than the settler concepts of security and safety. I give thanks and praise to the rivers that form this Connecticut River valley, to these sand hills and the ants that dwell here and find my kitchen window so inviting, to the many birds and their dawn hymns, and to the forests: o the trees, the ferns, the damp stones and the deep deep woods, you are the mercy of the sacred in cellulose flesh.
