I'm so obsessed with wood that I tend to go minimalist with embellishment, but these boho bonanzas were really fun to make. Twenty years of collecting a massive stash means I've got lots of options to add dimension to already-gorgeous wood dyed with the earth's own jewel tones. There's a little something for everyone here!

The terracotta domes feature highly textured wood from the Luminous Wormwood stock and the satin gold glass beads turned out to be the perfect complement. Weld and madder dyes, tung oil finish. Nickel-free oxidized brass and niobium hardware keep the vintage looking metal from messing with your ears. Dimensions: 1.5" wide by 3" long.

The merlot domes are also Luminous Wormwood, dyed with madder with just the briefest dip into the indigo vat for a moody wine-dark kick. Wooden beads link up to the brass ox hardware and a niobium earwire. Tung oil to a satin sheen. Dimensions: 1.5" wide by 3" long. Seriously get these before I decide they're mine.

The 80's throwback of pink and green give main character, but still grown-up. Sterling ear wires complement the shimmering green glass beads paired with deep pink cochineal-dyed maple. Dimensions: 1.75" wide by 2.75" long.

The indigo darlings go with a suggestive gold spareness, pairing nickel free plated hardware with iridescent beads that have everything to say back to the blue. Gold-filled ear wires will keep your lobes complaint-free. There is so much shine here. Delicious! Dimensions: 1.75" wide by 2.5" long.

Tender Fire Studio is part concept, part my tiny basement apartment full of art supplies and very little furniture, and part shared workshop. I work, play, and love on land that was stolen from the Pocumtuc people, settled by colonizers, and continues to be sold for profit in the speculative real estate market for the enrichment and comfort of the owning class. Decolonizing my practice is an ongoing study of how I can be in right relationship to the land, animals, and plants of this place while embracing and acknowledging the often-scary precarity and vulnerability of a life given to the pursuit of soul and the sacred rather than the settler concepts of security and safety. I give thanks and praise to the rivers that form this Connecticut River valley, to these sand hills and the ants that dwell here and find my kitchen window so inviting, to the many birds and their dawn hymns, and to the forests: o the trees, the ferns, the damp stones and the deep deep woods, you are the mercy of the sacred in cellulose flesh.
