Walnut with ATTITUDE! Oh man, these are big fun. Sterling silver with hand rubbed oil finished walnut burl and a chain fringe. These glow AND dance! These were special pieces from one magical end of a walnut scrap that had this fantastic figuring and curl. I cut these weird shapes to foreground what the wood was doing, but couldn't figure out what to do with them. I've paired them with every other piece I have in process, but these sassy pieces wanted their own jewelry. The hard part was finding the right balance between silver that could hold its own with the walnut intensity, but in a design restrained enough to not upstage the dramatic light-catching chatoyance in the swirling grain. I'm SUPER stoked about these. These ladies are long - get ready for attention, compliments and fascination!
Walnut Burl Chain Fringe Spectaculars
The chain fringes are a thickly plated sterling silver, and these are long enough that they'll likely brush your neck. If you are dancing up a good sweat with these, and I sure hope you do, make sure they're dry before you put them away. Gently rubbing the chain down with an anti-tarnish cloth will also help after they're dry. If they do tarnish, I've designed them so that the chain should have enough play that you can get most of it into any of the dozen DIY methods of polishing silver without having to get the wood wet. The tung oil finish will stand up to a lot but not to prolongued immersion. Let me know if you need help!
